7.7-magnitude earthquake hits Mexico – USGS
A 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit southern Mexico on Tuesday, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The state of Oaxaca, with a population of almost 4 million, has been the most affected by the earthquake. Currently, there are no reports of injuries or damage.
Shortly after the earthquake, a tsunami in nearby Pacific coastal areas was set off, rising the sea level by 60 centimeters (2 feet) at popular tourist destination Huatulco beach.
