PG&E pleads guilty to involuntary manslaughter in fires

The Pacific Gas and Electric Company pleaded guilty on Tuesday to 84 counts of involuntary manslaughter in relation to the 2018 California wildfires.

The California-based utility company, which was previously found liable for the wildfires due to failing to repair faulty equipment, will pay a maximum $13.5 fine to people who lost homes and businesses in the calamity.

The PG&E was separately fined $2 billion for its negligence in causing the wildfire by the California Public Utilities Commission separately.
