Mercedes, Nvidia to build next-gen car systems
Nvidia Corp. and Mercedes-Benz AG announced on Tuesday they plan to enter a partnership and “create a revolutionary in-vehicle computing system and AI computing infrastructure” from 2024.
The cooperation would result in developing “the most sophisticated and advanced computing architecture ever deployed in an automobile,” Nvidia said in a press release. Mercedes-Benz’s next-generation vehicles will include Nvidia’s DRIVE platform, improving the levels of automated driving functionalities to “state-of-the-art.”
“Every future Mercedes-Benz with the Nvidia DRIVE system will come with a team of expert AI and software engineers continuously developing, refining and enhancing the car over its lifetime,” Nvidia’s Chief Executive Jensen Huang noted. At the same time, Mercedes-Benz’s head Ola Kaellenius added that “new capabilities and upgrades will be downloaded from the cloud, improving safety, increasing value and extending the joy of ownership for all Mercedes-Benz customers.”
