Lego joins social media ad boycott
Danish toymaker Lego announced on Wednesday that it will pause advertising on all social media platforms for at least 30 days, becoming the latest company to join the Facebook boycott.
“We are committed to having a positive impact on children and the world they will inherit. That includes contributing to a positive, inclusive digital environment free from hate speech, discrimination and misinformation,” Lego chief marketing officer, Julia Goldin, said. “We will take immediate steps to carefully review the standards we apply to advertising and engagement on global social media platforms,” she added.
Earlier, an array of companies, including Ford, Microsoft, Coca-Cola, Unilever, Verizon, Target and Adidas, paused Facebook ads over the tech giant’s post moderation policies.
