Huawei to ask UK to postpone its removal from 5G – report
Chinese multinational technology company Huawei Technologies asked for a meeting with the United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson regarding the information that ministers are preparing plans to kick the company out of Britain’s 5G network.
According to the Sunday Times, Huawei says it wants to delay its removal until after the next election in 2025. The company hopes that a future government could decide in its favor. In return, Huawei would promise to maintain its equipment, currently used in the 2G, 3G and 4G networks.
It is expected that the British Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport Oliver Dowden makes a statement in the House of Commons next Tuesday regarding China’s tech giant.
