Trump: Hong Kong markets will go to hell
The Hong Kong Stock Exchange “will go to hell” without incentives for the region from the United States, President Donald Trump said on Thursday, adding Hong Kong “can never succeed without these incentives.”
The US president commented that the US used to put a lot of money into Hong Kong to “make it free” and “make it work” but that these policies are now over since the region is now “owned by China.”
Trump added that the Nadaq and the New York Stock Exchange will see billions in profits from his decision to cut Hong Kong funds as companies will move away from Hong Kong to these exchanges.
