UK consumer confidence unchanged in August – GfK
British consumer confidence remained unmoved in August for the second month in a row, maintaining the level first recorded in June, according to a preliminary survey conducted by the GfK Market research company.
The Consumer Confidence indicator stood at negative 27 points, the same as it was in July, marking a modest overall improvement compared to the 34-point drop recorded in April.
“Circumspect consumers report they are more confident about their personal financial situation over the next year but the uptick from zero to +1 does not amount to much,” GfK client strategy director, Joe Staton, said.
