Raab: I worried we would lose Johnson to COVID-19

United Kingdom Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said on Saturday that he was fearful that Prime Minister Boris Johnson would die from COVID-19 when he was taken to hospital with the disease earlier this year. Raab, who was put in charge of running the government in the prime minister’s absence said: “I really worried we might lose him and I was worried for Carrie pregnant with baby Wilf.”

Johnson was in intensive care in April with the coronavirus and his partner Carrie Symonds gave birth to their son Wilfried on April 29, two weeks after Johnson’s release from the hospital.

The foreign secretary’s comments come amid rising concerns over the health of United States President Donald Trump who was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure after testing positive for COVID-19. Commenting on Johnson’s hospitalization earlier this year, Trump said it was “a bad sign.”
