EU to hold extra plenary over Brexit deal – report
The European Parliament is planning to hold an extra plenary session between Christmas and New Year’s Eve to give consent to a potential trade deal with Britain that will become effective after the post-Brexit transition period ends, Politico reported on Monday.
The meeting will most likely take place on December 28 and will give the European Union’s members to “have the very last say” on the talks with London. However, according to sources, the event will occur only if the two parties previously reach an agreement that can be voted on.
Earlier this month, it was reported that 95% percent of the deal had been completed. Meanwhile, British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak noted a “genuine progress” in the negotiations.
