No need for stricter anti-virus measures – Peskov
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated on Monday Russia saw no need to impose lockdowns or other stricter restrictions on citizens’ movement as the currently implemented measures were proving to be successful in combating the further spread of coronavirus in the country.
“The prevailing point of view is that the current level of organization […] is sufficient not to introduce any lockdowns, whether it be shutting down communications between regions or shutting down the economy,” Peskov said. “We believe that this is still not necessary.”
At the moment, Russia counts 2,488,912 cases of COVID-19 and 43,597 coronavirus-related fatalities. Earlier this month, the mass vaccination against the disease in the country began in Moscow.
