Japan’s retail sales up 0.7% in November
Japan’s retail sales rose by 0.7% in November on an annual basis, landing at ¥12,570 billion, according to a report released on Friday by the country’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry.
The increase, which went under analysts’ projections, comes after last month’s data showed the retail sales rising by 11.9%. On a monthly basis, the sales value went 2% dwon, despite adding 0.4% in October.
The total value of commercial sales amounted to ¥44,253 billion, with 5.9% fewer goods sold compared to November 2019, while the seasonally adjusted value of sales in the wholesale industry stood at ¥31,683, marking a decrease of 8.8% year-on-year and 1.3% month-on-month.
