UK govt could have done more about pandemic – shadow minister
British Shadow Secretary for Health and Social Care Jonathan Ashworth dismissed on Wednesday Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s claims the government did everything it could to combat the coronavirus pandemic and claimed its lack of actions led to a “horrendous loss of life.”
Ashworth told Sky News other countries had a “better response” to the situation, including quicker lockdowns and border control. He also urged the government to improve its policies on the matter, including resourcing healthcare services.
Earlier in the day, Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick claimed the government took “right decisions at the right time” about the pandemic based on the “information that was available to us.”
