Russia slams Twitter’s ‘censorship’ – TeleTrader.com
Head of the Delegation of the Russian Federation to Vienna Negotiations on Military Security and Arms Control Konstantin Gavrilov said on Saturday that Twitter’s blocking of his delegation’s official Twitter account amounted to “censorship.”
He went on to question if the reason for blocking the account was because Russia had “an alternative position” on the current political and military situation in Europe. Gavrilov added that Russia would ask Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Secretary-General Helga Schmid to address the issue.
Twitter blocked the @armscontrol_rus handle on Friday. The company did not release a statement on the matter but the move came shortly after Twitter said it was expanding its policy of labeling state-affiliated accounts.
