N. Korea breaks ties with Malaysia over extradition ruling
North Korea decided to sever its diplomatic ties with Malaysia, Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) unveiled on Thursday.
Pyongyang made the decision after the Malaysian court ruled to extradite a North Korean citizen to the United States on money laundering charges.
Mun Chol Myong, a North Korean with residence in Kuala Lumpur, was arrested in 2019 after the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) probe suggested he was guilty of laundering funds through front companies. The North Korean leadership has since been stressing that the legal process is politically motivated.
