China accuses US of ‘condescending’ attitude
Chinese State Councilor Wang Yi said during talks with United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan that the US “wants to speak to China in a condescending way from a position of strength.” He criticized the tone of the opening remarks made by the US side, stating that the Chinese delegation “thought too well” of the US and “thought that the US side will follow the necessary diplomatic protocols.”
“The United States does not have the qualification to say that it wants to speak to China from a position of strength. The US side was not even qualified to say such things even 20 years or 30 years back, because this is not the way to deal with the Chinese people. If the United States wants to deal properly with the Chinese side, then let’s follow the necessary protocols and do things the right way,” he insisted.
