Germany to impose random COVID controls at French border
French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian announced on Friday that Germany will tighten controls on the border with France in the face of a recent rise in coronavirus cases. According to the minister, Germany will increase random checks and require a negative COVID-19 test, although it will not impose mandatory quarantine on French citizens arriving in the country.
On Thursday, Germany decided to classify France as a “high-risk zone” as a number of French regions recorded over 200 coronavirus infections per 100,000 people over the last week. Meanwhile, Le Drian cited an “explosion” of cases in Germany as the reason for the new measures.
