Asian markets trade higher, Nikkei closes up 1.56%
Asian markets traded with gains on Friday after hitting three-month lows in the previous session. The positive market sentiment across the Asia-Pacific region was sparked by increased optimism surrounding economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.
On the data calendar, core consumer prices in Tokyo continued to fall this March albeit at a slower annual rate.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 closed 1.56% in the green, while the Kospi Composite jumped 1.06% at 7:25 am CET. Meanwhile, the Shanghai Composite climbed 1.75% as the Shenzhen Composite surged 2.76%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was up 1.83% at the time. In Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 closed 0.49% higher. The dollar rose 0.06% against the Japanese yen at 7:30 am CET, buying ¥109.261.
