UK still recommends AZ jab amid blood clot controversy
The United Kingdom Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) stated on Tuesday that the country should continue to vaccinate with the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Talking to radio LBC, the regulating body stated that it is going to “carefully and in detail study” the oncoming information whether or not the vaccine is causing blood clots or cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST). UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson also called for people to get their jab, during a visit to AstraZeneca’s plant in Macclesfield, adding that the vaccines are “starting to have a beneficial effect on the trajectory of the disease.”
Despite the public support, MHRA is reportedly considering restricting its use for people under the age of 30. Earlier today, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) reportedly found a link between CVST and the AstraZeneca jab, especially for women under 50.
