Dollar rises versus euro, pound to recover week’s losses
The United States dollar advanced almost 1% compared to both the euro and the pound sterling on Friday to recover most of the losses from earlier this week.
The uptick was mostly contributed to the upbeat data regarding the US economy, but also to the difference in pace at which the COVID-19 vaccination process is unfolding in the US, compared to Europe.
The euro lost 0.73% compared to the dollar, selling for 1.20323 at 11:18 am ET, while the pound tumbled 0.92% versus the greenback, to go for 1.38177 a minute later.
