WH: Slow job growth to persuade GOP more help is needed
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki (pictured) asserted on Friday that the worse-than-expected nonfarm payroll report could facilitate the dialogue between the Democratic Party and the Republicans, and help the two parties see eye to eye regarding the need for more extensive spending aimed to mitigate the impact of COVID-19.
Answering questions during a daily press conference, Psaki announced that United States President Joe Biden will, on May 12, hold a bicameral, bipartisan meeting in the Oval Office aimed at finding a way to “put people back to work.”
Earlier during the day, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Biden himself claimed that the jobs report is proof that the US economy needs more help in the fight with the pandemic’s detrimental effects.
