Australia confirms borders will stay closed until 2022
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said on Sunday that the government would proceed with its plan of not reopening the country’s borders for non-residents before the middle of 2022. “All the way through we will be guided by medical advice. We will be guided by the economic advice,” Morrisson said addressing the nation.
Coronavirus-related lockdown measures in Australia have lowered the daily number of newly registered COVID-19 cases to under 100 since September last year. Meanwhile, more than 3 million people out of around 25 million population have been vaccinated against the disease so far.
