Wall Street closes mostly up, EV stocks push higher
Wall Street closed mostly higher on Wednesday as electric vehicle (EV) stocks led the gains during today’s session.
Earlier in the day, Ford announced plans to invest more than $30 billion by 2025 in electric vehicles, while noting the company expects these cars to make up 40% of its global sales by 2030. Ford’s shares soared on the news, ending the session 8.55% in the green. Meanwhile, shares of other EV companies surged during the day as well, including Tesla, Li Auto, Blink Charging and Nikola Corporation.
The Dow Jones was flat at the closing bell. The S&P 500 rose 0.19% at the end of trading with Ford as the top performer. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq 100 jumped 0.33% as Peloton rocketed over 10% to the top of the chart.
