Dems to prolong infrastructure talks past May 31 – report
United States Democrats and US President Joe Biden are willing to extend negotiations on the infrastructure bill after May 31, the deadline they initially set, Politico reported. People familiar with the matter stated Biden’s advisers and Democratic lawmakers are prepared to discuss the bill with Republicans for “a week or possibly two.”
If there is still no bipartisan agreement by that time, Democrats will “start shifting their focus to what it will take to pass a bill on a party-line vote,” according to the sources. Republicans in the Senate are expected to submit their version of the infrastructure package later on Thursday, but it is unlikely to be accepted by the administration or the Democrats.
