BA puts staffers back on furlough due to travel industry standstill
British Airways has decided to put the majority of its workers back on furlough due to an unclear situation regarding the future of international travel, the company spokesperson stated on Thursday.
According to a report by BBC, thousands of the company’s employees will go back “onto the government wage support scheme,” due to the fact that the majority of people decide against traveling due to the government’s travel-related regulations.
British Airways Chief Executive Sean Doyle repeatedly asked the UK authorities to allow international travel to restart, citing a whopping 700% increase in interest for holiday packages.
