No spectators at Olympics if pandemic worsens – Suga
Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said on Monday that the Summer Olympics in Tokyo might be held without any spectators in the event the capital introduces a state of emergency due to a surge in coronavirus cases.
“In the event a state of emergency was declared then we can’t rule out not having spectators,” Suga stated.
Over the weekend, it was reported that Tokyo 2020 Olympics organizers are considering an attendance cap of 20,000 for the Opening Ceremony on July 23.
