US closes mostly higher, Nasdaq, S&P hit record highs
United States equity markets closed mostly higher on Monday as traders invested in technology stocks. Nasdaq 100 and S&P 500 had another consecutive day reaching record high benchmarks. Apple and Salesforce shares each rose by 1.25%. Facebook reached a market cap of $1 trillion after the US court dismissed an antitrust lawsuit. Meanwhile, Dow Jones turned red during the day dragged by transport and energy stocks, most notably Boeing which dropped over 3.3%.
The Dow dropped 0.44% as Boeing closed 3.39% below the flatline, while the S&P 500 ended the session with 0.23% in the green as Enphase Energy grew by 7.38%. The Nasdaq 100 soared 1.25% led by NVIDIA jumping 5.01%.
The euro fell by 0.10% against the dollar trading for $1.19237 at 3:57 pm ET.
