US closes in green with S&P 500 at new peak
Major stock indexes in the United States finished the last trading session of the week higher with President Joe Biden’s executive order on competition in focus. Meanwhile, the Fed released its semi-annual Monetary Policy Report in which it warned that inflation could stay elevated for longer. On data, Baker Hughes said that the total rig count in the US climbed to 479.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.30% at the closing bell, as Goldman Sachs Group Inc. increased 3.57%. The Nasdaq 100 advanced 0.71%. Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. was the best performer, climbing 4.65%. The S&P 500 jumped 1.13% to reach a new all-time high. Discover Financial Services gained 6.19%.
The euro gained 0.30% against the greenback at 3:59 pm ET, changing hands for 1.18798 dollars.
