West Europe flood death toll tops 110
The number of people that have died in Germany and Belgium due to severe flooding in the area topped 110 on Friday, according to local officials.
At the same time, the number of people still missing is estimated to be more than 1,300, with thousands more being left homeless as their houses were either destroyed or deemed too risky to stay in.
Efforts to contain the flood have carried on throughout the day in the affected regions, with Germany sending around 850 military personnel to help with recovery efforts. Moreover, rescue and flood containment operations are also being undertaken in Belgium and the Netherlands.
