EMA approves Moderna’s vaccine for those aged 12-17
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) said on Friday it has approved Moderna’s vaccine for people aged 12 to 17.
“EMA’s human medicines committee (CHMP) has recommended granting an extension of indication for the COVID-19 vaccine Spikevax (previously COVID-19 Vaccine Moderna) to include use in children aged 12 to 17 years,” the agency stated and added studies showed the vaccine’s efficacy in adolescents is similar to that in adults.
In January, the Moderna jab received the EMA approval for use in adults.
