NSW first Australian state to reach 70% vaccine coverage
New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian said on Thursday the state is the first in Australia to reach the milestone of 70% of adults receiving the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Over seven million doses have been given out in NSW so far, she added.
The state added another 1,288 coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours and seven deaths. Berejiklian warned that the pandemic could spread further in October. However, she confirmed that “at 80% double-dose vaccination, we anticipate allowing our citizens to access international travel and also to welcoming home Australians through Sydney airport.”
