China pledges $30M in emergency aid to Afghanistan
China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi (pictured) stated on Wednesday that the country plans to provide $30 million (200 million yuan) in emergency aid to cover the “needs of the Afghan people.” Furthermore, he also asserted that China plans to help the country in reconstruction projects “as soon as the necessary conditions arise.”
Earlier, Wang Yi called on the United States and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to provide Afghanistan with economic and humanitarian aid. Lastly, China has announced plans to start the talks with the new interim Afghan government that is led by the Taliban, which has been criticized by other world governments.
