US job openings hit new record at 10.9M in July
The number of job openings in the United States jumped to a new series high of 10.9 million on the last business day of July, according to a report published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics on Wednesday.
The largest increases when it comes to job openings were registered in health care and social assistance, followed by finance and insurance and accommodation and food services. Hires and total separations remained mostly unchanged at 6.7 million and 5.8 million, respectively, while the quits rate stood at 2.7% with the layoffs and discharges rate at 1%.
The job openings report for August is scheduled to be published on October 12.
