Lagarde: No interest rate hikes before 2023
“At this point in time,” it looks like the European Central Bank will “absolutely not” be looking to raise interest rates before 2023, ECB President Christine Lagarde stressed on Monday.
“We’re not where we should be” when it comes to the central bank’s projection horizon, she told European lawmakers.
All three conditions in the ECB’s forward guidance need to be met before an increase in the interest rates, she also explained.
