German delegation holds talks with Taliban in Doha
German Foreign Ministry announced on Monday its delegation met with senior representatives of the Taliban group in Doha, Qatar and that the meeting “took place in a professional atmosphere.
The meeting’s agenda included the safe passage of German and Afghan citizens, the importance of human and in particular women’s rights, as well as the necessity to allow diversity in the political and social life of the country. The talks also covered security-related issues and emerging terrorist threats.
The official readout of the meeting from the German Foreign Ministry reiterated that Berlin will judge the Taliban by its future actions, not words.
