UK to present negotiating document on NI this week
The United Kingdom is going to present the European Union with a negotiating document on the North Ireland Protocol from the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s spokesperson stated on Monday.
The spokesperson went on to confirm the government will share its proposal directly with the European Commission. They added the governance of the protocol is “a central point for us” that “will need to be addressed.”
10 Downing Street’s reaction comes after Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney criticized Britain for allegedly refusing to consider the EU’s proposals for the protocol “before they are released.”
