Canada investigates Google over ad business
Canada’s Competition Bureau announced on Friday that it obtained a court order to advance its civil investigation into Google LLC’s online advertising business over antitrust issues.
The watchdog stated that the aim of the probe is to determine whether Google engaged in practices that harmed the competition in the online display advertising industry in the country.
Lastly, the regulator also noted that it will be checking whether Google’s practices impeded the success of its competitors, bringing higher prices of services, reducing consumer choice, hindering technological innovations, and harming advertisers, publishers, and consumers.
