Kroger denies it will accept Bitcoin Cash
A Kroger Co. spokesperson denied on Friday that the supermarket chain will start accepting Bitcoin Cash from December 1 for in-store and online purchases. The press release originally appeared on Kroger’s official investor relations website and was widely reported.
The release claimed Bitcoin Cash transactions are “significantly cheaper than Bitcoin transactions, with costs often remaining under one penny even for considerable amounts.” It also alleged payments in the cryptocurrency will be available in other stores in the company’s ownership, including Baker’s, City Market, Dillons, Fred Meyer, and QFC.
