Bannon pleads not guilty to charges
Steve Bannon, a close associate of former United States President Donald Trump, pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to two charges of contempt of Congress.
His legal representatives entered the not guilty plea on his behalf and submitted a motion to forgo a formal reading of the indictment that was set for Thursday. According to the Department of Justice, Bannon is facing “a minimum of 30 days and a maximum of one year in jail, as well as a fine of $100 to $1,000” for each of the two counts.
He had surrendered to federal authorities on Monday and was released without bail.
