Powell: Appropriate to consider faster taper
United States Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell stated on Tuesday that it is “appropriate” to consider speeding up the tapering process at the next Fed meeting.
Powell noted that the reason for this is the better state of the economy, adding that the impact of speeding up the process is that tapering will wrap up earlier.
Powell said that the taper doesn’t need to be a disruptive event in markets, saying that it hasn’t happened so far and that the Fed signals its policies with enough time ahead for it to not affect markets.
