Asia trades higher ahead of Fed policy meeting
Stocks in Asia-Pacific started this week’s trading session higher on Monday as market participants await the outcome of the US central bank’s policy meeting.
The US Federal Reserve is widely expected to dial its stimulus efforts back and announce a faster tapering of asset purchases, paving the way for interest rates to be raised sooner.
In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite went up by 1% at 4:230 am CET, with the Shenzhen Composite rising by 1.10% at the same time. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng increased by 1.03% at 4:33 am CET, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 rising 0.89% a minute later. At 4:34 am CET, the Australian S&P 200 went up by 0.65%, as South Korea’s Kospi Composite added 0.36%. The dollar stood 0.11% higher against the yen, going for ¥113.5400 at 4:35 am CET.
