Asian markets lower amid rate hike worries
Most major stock market indexes in Asia traded lower on Friday with investors concerned about the US Federal Reserve possibly rolling out an aggressive campaign to raise interest rates in the world’s top economy more than one time before year-end.
In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite fell by 0.59% at 4:30 am CET, with the Shenzhen Composite rising 0.14% at 5:35 am CET. At 5:41 am CET, South Korea’s Kospi went down by 1.39% and Japan’s Nikkei 225 by 1.41% at the same time. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng lost 1.03% at 05:05 am CET. At 5:42 am CET, the dollar traded 0.33% lower against the yen, going for ¥113.76215, with the Australian S&P/ASX 200 losing 0.98%.
