India’s daily COVID cases hit another 8-month high
India’s Health and Family Welfare Ministry confirmed in its latest update that 264,202 people across the nation tested positive for the coronavirus disease in the past twenty-four hours.
The figure brings the total number of cases the country saw since the start of the pandemic to 36,582,129. It also marks India’s highest daily jump in COVID-19 cases since May 19, when health officials confirmed 276,110 new infections.
The number of virus-related deaths increased by 315 to land at 485,350, while total recoveries reached 34,824,706, taking the number of active cases to 1,272,072.
