Bitcoin, Ethereum tumble amid fraud concerns
The world’s two leading cryptocurrencies fell on Tuesday amid concerns about their security. Ether was down by 3%, while Bitcoin declined by 2%.
Earlier, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission said they are taking steps to protect consumers. However, US Under Secretary of the Treasury for Domestic Finance Nellie Liang mentioned that there are “too many cases” of fraud in the United States. Coincidentally, the Department of Justice announced today that it seized more than $3.6 billion in digital currency stolen during a cryptocurrency exchange hack.
Bitcoin fell 2.14% at 12:44 am ET, selling for $42,928, while Ether tumbled 3.26%, to go for 3,039.39 a minute later.
