Scholz is ready to shut down Nord Stream 2 – McConnell

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said to the United States senators that Germany will block the Nord Stream 2 pipeline if Russia invades Ukraine, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell noted on Tuesday.

McConnell, who had dinner with Scholz along with other senators, said to reporters that Scholz has “confirmed” that the pipeline will be “shut down” if Russia attacks Ukraine.

During the joint press conference with US President Joe Biden, Scholz hasn’t provided an explicit answer to questions regarding Nord Stream 2.
