Disney suspends some live-action films production
Walt Disney Company said on Friday it is suspending the production of some its live-action films over coronavirus concerns.
“While there have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 on our productions, after considering the current environment and the best interests of our cast and crew, we have made the decision to pause production on some of our live-action films for a short time,” the company said in a statement. “We will continue to assess the situation and restart as soon as feasible,” Disney added. The films whose production is affected by the decision include The Little Mermaid, which was set to start filming next week, as well as Home Alone, and Peter Pan and Wendy.
Earlier today, Disney decided to indefinitely delay the theatrical release of a live-action remake of Mulan, which was scheduled to open in the United States and the United Kingdom on March 27.
