Coronavirus kills 250 in Italy since yesterday
Italian authorities revealed on Friday that 250 people have died due to the coronavirus since yesterday, a new world record in daily deaths. In total, 1,266 people died since the outbreak started, or 292.1 per every million people. Lombardy remains the most affected region with 890 deaths overall.
Total number of cases now stands at 17,660 as of 5 pm, which is an increase of 2,116 in 24 hours, also a new global record. 1,439 of the ones infected have recovered, 181 of them in the last 24 hours.
A total of 97,488 tests for the disease have been performed in Italy so far, according to the latest update.
