Queen Elizabeth halts public engagements over COVID-19
British Queen Elizabeth II will skip several public events “as a sensible precaution and for practical reasons” amid the coronavirus outbreak, Buckingham Palace unveiled in a statement on Friday.
“As a sensible precaution and for practical reasons in the current circumstances, changes are being made to The Queen’s diary commitments in the coming weeks. In consultation with the Medical Household and Government, Her Majesty’s forthcoming visits to Cheshire and Camden will be rescheduled,” the statement said.
Earlier today, the United Kingdom Department of Health and Social Care announced that the coronavirus confirmed cases count increased by 208 in the past 24 hours, reaching 798, while the number of fatal outcomes from the infection remained unchanged at 10. According to official data, 32,771 people in the UK have been tested for COVID-19 so far.
