Health systems collapse under COVID-19 pressure – WHO
The World Health Organization (WHO) Mike Ryan said on Friday that “health systems that are collapsing under the pressure of too many cases” of coronavirus.
“Take one look at what’s happening in some health systems around the world. Look at the intensive care units completely overwhelmed. Doctors and nurses utterly exhausted,” Ryan stated at a press briefing in Geneva, adding that the COVID-19 outbreak “isn’t just a bad flu season.”
Previously, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus urged young people around the globe not to underestimate coronavirus, saying they are “not invincible” and the outbreak could affect the young population gravely.
