Germany extends lockdown until April 19
German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Wednesday that the country will extend the lockdown until April 19 to prevent the further spreading of coronavirus.
According to a decision made in a conference call between the federal government and federal states agreed in a conference call, German residents will be “required to reduce contact with other people outside their own household to an absolute minimum according to the applicable rules, even during the Easter holidays.” Therefore, the government asked citizens to “refrain from private trips and visits to relatives” until the end of the Easter holidays.
According to an update from Tuesday, over 68,000 people contracted coronavirus while 687 German citizens have died from COVID-19-related diseases.
