Merkel: Germany hasn’t reached final phase of pandemic
German Chancellor Angela Merkel claimed on Thursday that the country hasn’t reached “a final phase” of the coronavirus outbreak, but only the beginning, adding that the pandemic represents the biggest challenge the nation faced since World War II. We will need to “live with coronavirus for a long time,” the German government’s head stressed.
In a speech before the Bundestag, Merkel asserted that vaccine is the only solution to beat the infection, saying that the country’s health system is “overwhelmed for a long time.” The chancellor also offered her support to the World Health Organization (WHO), “an indispensable partner” to Germany, while she underscored that “international cooperation on coronavirus is extremely important.”
